Led by Justin Ferrell of Stanford d.school with Massey University and Fairfax Media
I took the designer role in a team of MBA students and mentors, using d.school methods of design thinking,
Through an exercise to design the ultimate wallet, all were taught the concept for the next two days; think outside the box through thinking about your user.
After receiving a very specific brief on Sunday newspaper content, we zoomed out. We asked anyone we could find, 'what does Sunday mean to you?'
We built our users, discussing them throroughly.
And began rapidly ideating.
We quickly grouped and voted on ideas based on our users...
...so we could spend time prototyping.
After one and a half full days, all groups presented.
Those who had no idea about design thinking had fantastic concepts and were enlightened to discover and understand user-centered thinking. They now are empowered to continue thinking outside the box through the rest of their careers.
